How do I get started in the stunt business?   PDF  Print  E-mail

1.  How do I get started?  The best way is to find a mentor or a group of people who will let you train with them.

2.  What's the one thing people might not know about stunt work?  First of all, you have to treat it like a business.  You have to be a salesperson and YOU are the product?  Also, this is a very blue collar business.  Get used to hard work.  Moving pads, rigging and prepping another person's stunt.  Teamwork is the key to this business.

3.  What skills do I need?  I've been told that Stunts is TIMING and HITTING YOUR MARK.  If you can do both of these things well, you have a chance in this business.  But it's not as easy as that.  An athletic background is key.  Often top stuntmen and women are champions at a a regional, national or world championship level is some particular field.

4.  How long should I try to make a living at this?  That's a good question?  Are you married?  Do you have a spouse and children to support?  It could take years to get to a comfortable living in Stunts.  It's very competitive.  Maybe 5-10 years just to "break-in"!!!

5.  Do I have to live in Hollywood?  Arguably the best stuntmen and women in the world live and work in Hollywood.  Period.  You can live where ever you want, but when it comes down to it, all the film and TV productions come out of Southern California.  All the big directors, producers, actors and their agents live in Hollywood.

....Anymore questions, please email me and I will try to answer them for you.  Thanks.
